The "Forget Me Never" Set

This set is in memory of Loretta Fashano and the funds raised are directly donated to our walk team "A.L.L. Sweet Shop & Bakery Family" for the Walk to End Alzheimer's. For every cookie purchased $1 goes towards our fundraising goals. The walk is Saturday, September 28th, 2024 in Buffalo, NY.

About Loretta: She was a nurse for a good part of her life and loved what she did. She was always happy to bring loving care to those who needed it. After retirement she took to her other great passion in life, animal welfare. She started a home cat rescue to help with the growing homeless cat population and was supported by her community. She had initially funded her efforts by collecting bottles and cans discarded in her neighborhood. Her neighbors in the surrounding areas of her home began donating animal needs like food and litter as well as cash or bags of cans/bottles. She saved countless cats from danger and found them loving homes. Loretta went to free clinic days to get the cats microchips, spays/neutered, and basic checkups. Her heart was so full of love and it never stopped with the animals. Loretta would also do what she could to help those around her by getting places like Wilson Farms to give her the food they were going to waste and giving it to families in need. Everyone who knew her, knew she was a true angel. The easiest way to express her true nature was to recite what her pin said that she wore everyday "Jesus loves you and so do I". She lived those words with every action she took. She believed that by helping others she was bringing God's love to them.

Loretta was not just Ann Marie's grandmother but also a mom to her and her first best friend. "She is the person I most looked up to, the person I trusted above all, the reason for all the good in me and my hero. She was so kind and never stopped thinking of others. She could make friends with anyone and she brought joy to every life she touched. I grew up knowing what it was to care unconditionally for all and see everyone for what was in their hearts. I only hope that I can spread even an ounce of the love I watched her give everyday. I have so many stories but nothing could truely sum up my grandma, she was a Saint."

Unfortunately near the end of her life Loretta developed Dementia and slowly forgot those around her. Through some blessing or perhaps their close bond she never forgot Ann Marie. Loretta has passed but although she is gone she will never be forgotten. We hope this cookie collection will honor a legacy of love and kindness.
